Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

New Year, New Home

Christmas break, New Year Parties, January snow on the ground, nothing, but nothing, seems to deter the steady stream of applicants looking for houses to rent in Abingdon.

After a restful Christmas break, we re-opened the Finders Keepers Abingdon office, bright eyed and bushy tailed, on the 2nd of January. We found many eager enquiries from prospective tenants and quickly arranged our first few viewings for that very day, finishing the week with 3 new lets.

The enquiries kept coming, with 5 lets the following week 6 the week after that.

Even the January snow (no longer a novelty, these days) didn’t deter our customers. We carried out viewings through the snow and  that week, we tied up yet another 6 lets. The month looks like producing around 24 new lets, with the four below all going on the first viewings.

And that’s just people looking for property to rent in Abingdon. Other Finders Keepers offices have reported similarly good levels of business, straight off the bat, for 2013.

Abingdon success stories range from a delightfully refurbished cottage in Marcham, complete with free standing tub bath, (Photo 1) to a stylish converted town centre apartment in Twickenham House, (photo 2) both of which let within days of hitting the market, both to the first viewer.

A converted Granary at Longworth was popular, going to the first people we showed round, (Photo 3) while one of our corporate customers snapped up a large contemporary town house on Abingdon Marina, once again, on the first viewing! (Photo 4).

Staying with the riparian theme, the latest part of Abingdon’s riverside redevelopment, The Old Gaol development, is taking shape with many of these amazing prestige apartments already sold. Just over the road, the new look town centre precinct has just been unveiled.

It’s all well worth a look. And so is the whole town, with Spring just around the corner. Why not come and visit the renewed Abingdon on Thames.

But if you want to rent a property here, you’d better get a move on!
