Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

2018: The Year Ahead

We are very excited about the future for property – particularly in Oxfordshire. Having campaigned for regulation of our industry for more than 45 years, fundamental changes to the way the property market can work will make the property system fairer, more transparent and a respected sector. There are certainly changes coming which will impact landlords, but our eight offices are set to deal with these adjustments.

New Year, New Agent?

A new year is often a time for reflection, looking at the year gone by and considering the year ahead. This is no different at Finders Keepers and we were pleased to review our performance in 2017: our team has done a fantastic job in letting and looking after thousands of homes across the county – picking up 180 reviews of 4- and 5-stars along the way.

List your property now to catch the January migration

Every year we see the same trend: people using their time off over the festive period to window shop for a new property from the comfort of their own home. The owner – a portfolio client who uses Finders Keepers to let and manage their properties – refurbished the property, resulting in the rent increasing by an impressive 15%.

The Great British Bike Off

Oxford is a city famous for cycling. Even within Finders Keepers we have a number of keen cyclists from those who cycle as a hobby, to those who commute by bicycle and this summer several of our team enjoyed cycling to appointments on the company bicycle, including the Office Manager of our North Oxford office, Richard Massingham:

“I enjoy cycling a lot and I realised that by cycling to some of my appointments over the summer months I could not only avoid traffic and get to my destination on time, but I was also getting some exercise and feeling much more energised.

Getting results in a tougher market

Oxfordshire is a resilient area and has withstood a lot of disruption over the years; who would have thought that our letting market would boom when Lehman Brothers collapsed in 2008? While this has certainly been a fickle year with ongoing Brexit negotiations and a snap election at the start of the summer, Oxfordshire’s future is looking bright with BMW confirming that their Mini E electric car will be built in the UK1 and Harwell Campus announcing an £80 million expansion, bringing 200 jobs and creating a ‘European innovation district’ on the science vale2. That said, Quarter 3 has been varied across our 8 letting offices:
