Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

Our team at Finders Keepers has been working hard this year to raise money for Sobell House Hospice, their charity of the year 2017. So far we have run, cycled, baked, gardened and manned bucket collections and raised a total of £2,543.90.

The hospice serves residents of Oxfordshire, offering physical, psychological, social and spiritual care to those facing life threatening illness, death and bereavement. Their aim is to raise £2million over the next three years to help them:

  • Extend the site: they are going to build and re-configure the existing site to allow for better, tailored care.
  • Provide care in hospitals: to get appropriate care/support in the hospitals for patients who require end of life care in hospitals.
  • In the community: helping people with palliative care at home by having Sobell Nurses supporting patients.

At the end of September a team of nine from Finders Keepers helped to remove the plants from the existing garden (which will be moved in the reconfiguration), which were then sold in Sobell’s plant sale. Sarah Gale, from our building division Bricks & Mortar was one of the team:

“I really enjoyed gardening; it was rewarding and good to see that plants which would otherwise have been bulldozed are able to be sold on to raise some funds for the hospice without costing them in labour to remove them. It was actually a nice team building activity as well with people from all across Finders Keepers coming together.”

We are thrilled to have raised over £2,500 from all of our fundraising so far this year and we have more events coming up to hopefully increase our total. On Friday 6th October a team will be at Sainsbury’s Heyford Hill raising money, so please pop along to say hi to them! On the morning of Saturday 7th October there will be a bake sale at Abingdon’s White Horse Leisure and Tennis Centre with lots of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, tray bakes and biscuits on offer. Bring along empty Tupperware and lots of money to help us raise ‘bake’ a difference!

One of our more energetic team members will run the Oxford Half on Sunday 8th October, rounding off our bumper weekend of charity activities. To support Sarah Carroll or any of the rest of the teams please donate at
