Letting is a very seasonal industry and over the years we have seen trends form, such as a quiet December followed by an extremely busy January and prime family home letting time being from around Easter until the Summer holidays.

The family season is now in full swing and the North Oxford office has already had great successes letting family homes with two being let on the second viewing.

The current tenants of a detached, 4 bedroom family home just off the Woodstock Road in Summertown had found a property to buy and wanted to surrender their tenancy. With a few months left on their tenancy the landlord was understandably concerned that the property might languish on the market for a few months before letting to a new family. However, our team was working with a family who were relocating from abroad and were looking for a home in the near future. They had enquired about another property we were listing, but the available date did not suit them. Senior Letting Manager Debbie Blanchard sent them the details of this off-the-market property, knowing it suited their requirements for location, size, budget and importantly timing. They loved the property with its flexible living areas and quiet detached office. They applied straight away, resulting in a delighted outgoing tenant and a relieved and thrilled landlord.

In a round about way, the second let started last year! We worked with an applicant in 2016 and when her brother told her he was moving to Oxford this year she advised him to contact Kate Rutherford, our Letting Department Manager in Summertown, before doing anything else. After a telephone conversation to discuss his requirements, he visited Oxford where Kate showed him around the area and some typical properties within his budget. He was keen to find a house which was close to good schools but also would give him easy access to London. When he returned for a second visit with his family we showed him a modern 4 bedroom town house in a popular North Oxford development. They liked the style of home and the location was just what they wanted – close to good schools and a short journey from Oxford Parkway for trains to London.
