Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

Oxfordshire photo draw winner

Holiday blog post winner

At the end of June we ran a competition inviting residents of Oxfordshire to send in a photo of their favourite place in the county with one lucky person being chosen at random to win a £2,000 holiday. The “winning” location was Blenheim Palace and grounds with more than 40 photos submitted, but the real winner of the competition was Clare Newson of Banbury. We caught up with her to find out how she used the £2,000 prize:

I don’t rent a property through Finders Keepers, but I saw all the boards up around Banbury promoting the competition. I was intrigued, so I went onto to read more about the competition and decided to enter.

I have entered a few competitions in the past, but have never won anything before now. As soon as I heard I’d won I went and bought a lottery ticket to see if my luck would keep going (…it didn’t!) I was absolutely over the moon to win; I thought it was a joke and still can’t believe I actually won!

We went to Portugal because it’s beautiful, the weather is hot and the beaches are stunning. The people there are so friendly; we made friends there four years ago and we have been back each year to see them.

We spent a week at the 4-star Albufeira Sol Hotel & Spa, which was all inclusive with an indoor and outdoor pool, gym and spa and close to the beach. There was also entertainment during the day and evening with a parrot show, belly dancing, a Hawaiian show and a kids club.

We took part in a few of the activities in the hotel, such as Aqua-fit, Portguese dancing, and did a lot of sightseeing around Albufeira Old Town in a Tuk Tuk; that was definitely an experience!

For me, the best thing about the holiday was getting to spend quality time with my family without all the day-to-day stress…and I had no cooking or washing to do for a whole week! My daughter, Molly, says the best part was having her hair braided by her friend who we’ve known for four years now, and being in the pool – where she spent most of the holiday.

The competition was a great idea as it gave people the opportunity to afford a nice holiday which they might not otherwise have had. I’m so grateful I was drawn as the winner and cannot thank Finders Keepers enough.
