Success with Skype – Securing lets with virtual viewings
Earlier in the summer we were contacted by an excellent applicant, looking to move to Oxford to work at the University. The challenge was that he lived in the USA and did not know anyone in the area who could attend the viewing for him. He requested a Skype viewing, which we gladly organised for him and he loved the look of the property and applied for it straight away. Since that first success we’ve not looked back.
Oxford is a city renowned for its Universities and attracts some of the best academic minds from across the world. Due to travel constraints it is often difficult for people relocating to Oxford to book in viewings on accommodation.
The Finders Keepers letting team in North Oxford has been running a highly successful campaign of remote viewings, using Skype and a mobile wireless internet connection, mostly to academics from Europe, the USA and Asia.
The team decided to keep the viewings as natural as possible treating it the same as if they were in the room and going into detail when asked about particular areas.
We still believe strongly in matching the best tenants with the best properties, and all of the candidates offered a remote viewing had been carefully vetted through our usual process.
Although our virtual viewings have proven to be successful, we do not offer them as standard as it really is advisable to see the property in person or to get a trusted friend or family member to view the property on your behalf. However, we appreciate that this is not always possible, and in those cases we have found Skype viewings to be a real boon.
