North Oxford Roadworks Update


New roundabout roadworks in Oxford
The planned roadworks on the Banbury Road and Woodstock Road to improve the Cutteslowe and Wolvercote roundabouts are now well under way. The work started on July 21st and is expected to continue for 16 months. Oxfordshire County Council and residents of North Oxford are advising to plan your journeys and expect longer travel times, especially at peak hours.

The roundabouts are key routes into Oxford and already support an estimated 100,000 vehicles each day. This demand on these roads is set to increase with the new developments such as housing and employment growth in West and North Oxfordshire, the development of the Northern Gateway, and the new train station Oxford Parkway.

The work being carried out will include the addition of traffic signals on both roundabouts, widening the main approaches from the A40 and A44, installing pedestrian and cycle crossings, adding new off carriageway cycle facilities, introducing new speed limits to the approaches of both roundabouts and extra work such as resurfacing, lighting and drainage.

All this work is set to cause a considerable amount of disruption to travel into and out of North Oxford and we are seeing an increased demand for high quality properties close to the schools in Oxford avoiding the roadworks.
