Show off your moves & raise money for the Cowley Rd Carnival
Round up your family and friends, dig out your brightest clothes and join in the biggest Zumba party of 2013 to help raise money for the much loved Cowley Road Carnival.
Hosted by Zumba instructor George Martini, along with many other well known and much loved instructors from Oxford, the Zumbathon will be held on Sunday 24 March 2013 at Blackbird Leys Leisure Centre from 2pm – 5pm.
Doors open at 1.15pm for registration so arrive early so we can start the party on time!
It will cost £10 for an adult to take part (16+) and £5 for a child (aged 8 – 15). All proceeds will go to the organisers of the carnival, Cowley Road Works (registered charity number: 1118902).
Not only can you enjoy dancing the afternoon away, during your well earned break we have arranged for Booiaka and Salsa performances to keep the party rocking and inspire you to dance your socks off!
The event is guaranteed to be fun and is open to everyone. Remember men can Zumba too and children aged 8 and over are welcome.
The Zumbathon is brought to you through a partnership between Cowley Road Works, Active Women (a project delivered in Oxford through a partnership between Oxford City Council Sports Development team and Fusion Lifestyle), George Martini of Zumba Fitness Oxford, and a network of Zumba instructors kindly supporting this event for free.
Councillor Mark Lygo, Board Member for Sport and Parks, says: “This is a great idea to join everyone together to have fun and take part in some exercise, whilst raising money for a great cause.
“Its amazing how many calories you can burn when having fun and I hope everyone that takes part is inspired to continue to exercise and take advantage of the fantastic sporting opportunities available to them in Oxford.”
