Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

Growing Student Letting Team

The Finders Keepers Student Letting office opened in 2004 with four team members. We had let student property before from our East Oxford office but it was time to get more dedicated with a separate office and specialist staff.

The key objectives were to provide the best student accommodation in Oxford and to grow the property portfolio. Since then, we have increased the stock by 120% and in 2011 we won the gold award for The Sunday Times Best Student Letting company in the UK – the first of its kind….Success on both counts.

We are all so proud that our hard work has paid off, and been recognised. Of course with growth inevitably comes challenges, and recently we recruited 2 new full time members of staff, to replace our part time ‘winter and summer helps’. We are now a team of seven. Our two new recruits are…

Sam Walters:

Originally from the outskirts of London, Sam relocated to Oxford in 2011. As a qualified Secondary School PE Teacher it was a step into the unknown when Sam left his post in a school and applied for the job at Finders Keepers Student Letting. Since doing so Sam says he genuinely hasn’t looked back. “I feel like I am learning every day and being surrounded by a great team has helped immensely” says Sam. The next step will be to get qualified when Sam joins the next round of staff members taking their ARLA Propertymark in March.

Hana Bishop:

“After finishing my law degree at Swansea University I never expected property was where I would end up” says Hana who started her first full time job working for a commercial property surveyors and ended up staying at the company for over two years. Hana gained invaluable experience and began to discover a true passion for property. As is often the case, it wasn’t long before Hana found herself wishing she too could be visiting properties, and she felt that it was time to get her hands dirty. Hana joined Finders Keepers Student Letting in January 2012. “It’s a steep learning curve but the team are always so supportive. No day is ever the same which certainly keeps you on your toes and I look forward to whatever challenges the next few months will bring.” says Hana
