Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

One of the more magnificent flats to rent in Abingdon

The team at Finders Keepers Abingdon office is experiencing what can best be described as a tidal wave of demand from applicants wanting flats to rent in Abingdon.

This is not unusual, given the usual busy summer season and the exciting redevelopment of Abingdon’s town centre and riverside area. Nevertheless, we continue to be surprised by the surge as we head towards 30 lettings in June alone – a let every single day of the month, including Sundays!

There continue to be fascinating little stories in the busy undercurrent. Recent lets include an apartment off Audlett Drive. Nothing interesting in that, one might think. But this one is different.

Wick Hall is in a fascinating old house, dating from 1720 and in the ownership of the same family since the 1850’s. The magnificent house stands in an elegant parkland setting, with no other buildings within sight, despite being only just over a mile from Abingdon town centre. It is a truly remarkable jewel in our town’s crown and contains some of the more magnificent flats to rent in Abingdon.

The apartments benefit from some of the same period features as the main house: after an approach down a long tree lined drive, one arrives at an oasis of calm. Inside, well proportioned rooms with lofty ceilings and inspiring views over the landscaped grounds are just a part of the deal.

Indeed, so spacious are the rooms that one applicant, while dearly loving the apartment actually decided not to proceed –  because they felt that their furniture simply wouldn’t fill the space…
