Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

An exciting riverside spring and summer in the offing…

There is plenty going on in Abingdon at the moment.

In the office, we have celebrated Finders Keepers’ 40th birthday anniversary with a re-fit, giving us a smart new contemporary look inside the office to match our new brand identity and logo change, which has recently caused so much interest.

The work involved in the new look has not got in the way of some very enterprising letting. One of our more up-market apartments at the Old Brewery Development, which features 3 balconies overlooking the town in different directions, was on the market after the military tenant moved out on a posting. We surprised even ourselves by re-letting it – to the same tenant! Another branch of the military were looking, and snapped it up.

In the same prestige site, we have recently taken on a magnificent 3 bedroom apartment with some truly stunning internal spaces, including its own cinema room. Truly one of the most impressive flats to rent in Abingdon this year. The rent of £2,095 per month has not proved to be a deterrent, with a number of viewings and applicants ready to take the apartment.

Looking further afield over the town, the exciting development of the Old Gaol continues apace, behind the facade of the elegant Twickenham House, which was itself redeveloped last year.

The Old Gaol development promises to become Abingdon’s “Jewel in the Crown”, providing a fascinating and unique blend of luxury apartments, restaurants and other facilities in and around a conversion of this fascinating period building, adjacent to the River Thames.

As a compliment to this, the town will be further improved later in the year with the exciting re-development of the town centre shopping mall. Abingdon on Thames is set to become a local hot spot – Watch this space.
