Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

Military manoeuvres

Last Monday a new landlord instructed us to let their apartment in Witney. As you would expect from an ex-military couple, the instructions we received were both explicit and concise: an early letting to a high-quality tenant was required. They were impressed when we asked to bring the military relocation agent with us to the appointment to take photographs.

Fortunately, the relocation agent loved the apartment and booked for her client, a military couple, to view on the Wednesday. They decided instantly to take the apartment with one proviso, they could move in on the Friday (two days later)!

We informed the landlord, who arrived at our office within half an hour with the necessary paperwork, to find our inventory clerk and gas engineer also at our office, preparing to go to his apartment at that moment to carry out the necessary safety checks and inventory preparation. The tenancy agreement was already being drafted by our legally trained administrators.

The move went off without a hitch with the new tenant picking up the keys at 9.00am on Friday morning.

All in the Line of Duty…
