Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

An update on student letting in Oxford

Back in December we blogged about the launch of the FKSL List and all the work involved in putting it together.

We let 55 student properties in Oxford in that first week and we have now let about 85% of The List. We are currently in the ‘admin’ stage of referencing and drawing up tenancy agreements and getting the groups of tenants to sign the agreements etc.

Most of the tenancies have already been signed, even though they don’t start until the summer. We tend to spread out the start dates across July, August and September so tenants can come to collect their keys and the inventory which we advise them to go through at the property. We then book their check-in for September or October as they often don’t physically move in to the property until then. The check-in is where we visit the tenant at the property and walk through the house with them, showing them how the appliances work, where the stopcock is etc. This part of our service was in the media in September last year (read the article here), but this is not something special that we do for student tenants – all managed Finders Keepers properties have a check-in with their Property Manager.

Although we no longer have tenants queuing overnight, we still have applicants coming through the door and we are still looking for more property. If you are interested in renting out your property, or investing in a student letting investment in Oxford, contact Simon Tyrrell on 01865 260111.
