Why Should You Invest in Property in Oxfordshire?
We believe that property is an excellent place for your investment for a number of reasons:
Supply: there is an imbalance of supply and demand of housing in Oxfordshire. In spite of the Government's housing plan (2017) to build up to 100,000 homes in Oxfordshire by 2031, the number of permanent dwellings completed up to this point is behind schedule. Rental demand, on the other hand, has been consistently strong over the last few years.
Low savings rates: of course, there is greater risk in investing in property compared to savings accounts, but the reward can also be greater. Returns across the county vary from approximately 3.5% inside Oxford up to 6% in certain areas, such as Banbury and Bicester.
Pension: Over the last few years a trend has formed for people investing to add to their pensions. Property offers a solid return; provides a regular, passive income; and property values are on a long-term rising trend (see graph).
Tangible asset: owning a buy-to-let investment means you have a tangible asset, and one that you could potentially improve through refurbishments, upgrading and redecorations. This is something Finders Keepers excels at - see more.
Oxfordshire is one of three counties nationwide to prepare a Local Industrial Strategy, which includes a vision to be a top three global innovation ecosystem by 2040 and to create 108,000 private sector jobs. On top of this, the county is home to two leading universities, many globally recognised companies and multiple science and research facilities " attracting a steady stream of quality tenants.
Of course, there can be no guarantees with any investment, but generally property provides a long-term profit, and Oxfordshire is an attractive place to invest. It's well-connected to London and is an integral part of the Golden Triangle (London, Cambridge and Oxford) for research and innovation. Not only that, but it's a great place to live!
