Charity of the Year 2015
Finders Keepers is happy to announce that our Charity of the Year 2015 was The British Heart Foundation, as voted for by Finders Keepers staff. We were very excited to be working with the British Heart Foundation to raise funds and, of course, to raise awareness.
Today in the UK, around 480 people will go to hospital with a heart attack. About seven in ten will survive to return home, a figure which was unthinkable around 50 years ago before the British Heart Foundation's pioneering research. Their vision is:
"A world in which people do not die prematurely or suffer from cardiovascular disease"
We raised funds to help them continue expanding their research programme, accelerating discovery and pushing for lifesaving benefits for all.
Our main fundraising events in 2015 were:
1. Dechox in March 2015
Alan Foster, Collette Lally, Emma Croft-Pearson, Leeah Allsworth, and Victoria Lyall had to abstain from eating chocolate for 1 month! Not an easy task when working in an office surrounded by the delicious sweetness but worth it for the amount that they raised!
2. Paris Marathon, April
Amy Read took the Eurostar to Paris and raised a spectacular amount for the British Heart Foundation on her own!
3. 50 Mile Cotswolds Cycle 17th May 2015
50 Mile Cycle ride around the Cotswolds - Alec Bayford, Ceri Holmes, Mark Nightingale, Richard Matthews, Dan Channer & Philip Channer will be cycling around the Cotswolds where there will be several hills to conquer!
4. 34 Mile Cotswolds Hike 8th August 2015
Emma Read, Marc Fox, Laura Fiddes-Baron, Michelle Horner, Sarah Carroll, Maxine Allington, Kelly Merriman, Philippa Siret-Godfrey and Lucy McCormick will start the two day journey on foot from Chipping Campden to Cheltenham.
5. Blenheim Palace 10K run (and support team helping with registration and medal giving), October
7. Volunteer in shops (taking receipt of donations, displaying and pricing items etc.), Autumn
