Witney - Area Detail

Witney

The choice of schools and lower-cost, modern homes attracts professional and academic families. The Woolgate is a well-designed, Cotswold-stone shopping centre. There is a well-supported sports centre, a Waitrose and a good range of high-street shops and banks.

Burford

One of the most popular villages in the Cotswolds, Burford is a picture-postcard with no modern developments. Visitors abound on weekends, drawn by the many antiques shops, art galleries and pubs.

Charlbury

A lovely, small Cotswold town with many shops for everyday use and beautiful countryside. The mainline station goes direct to Paddington in 75 minutes.

Chipping Norton

A market town established during the industrial revolution by the wool industry, with an increasing number of flat conversions in period buildings. The Bliss Mill development has an indoor swimming pool and sports facilities.

Kingham

A beautiful, unspoilt, large Cotswold village with many houses hued from the local stone. Trains reach Paddington from Kingham station in 85 minutes.

The Leighs

Asthall Leigh and North Leigh are typical Cotswold villages close to Witney, with many period properties ideal for families. A relaxed atmosphere pervades and many residents enjoy good-quality food at pubs like the Swan at Swinbrook.
