Letting FAQ
For any other questions, please contact a letting manager.
- How far in advance do we need to reserve a property?
- It depends, but as far in advance as possible. Some properties are available at 3 month's notice, yet most student accommodation in Oxford goes in January.
- Do we rent for a fixed term?
- Yes. If the property is the owner's home, the lease will be for the time that they are away, i.e. 6, 9 or 12 months. If not, or the property is available indefinitely, the preferred length of lease is one year, but this may be negotiable.
- Can I rent for 3 months?
- Yes, we have a variety of Short Lets.
- What will I need to bring with me for the property?
- Most properties in Oxford are fully furnished and equipped with essential kitchen equipment and adequate bedding and linen. A minority of properties do not have kitchen equipment and bedding. To be absolutely sure what is provided, please ask the office to discuss the property's inventory with you so that you can know all the details.
- Are pets allowed?
- Not unless specifically defined and agreed in advance.
- Can I hire a maid? Can you supply a gardener?
- Yes. Please ask for advice and suggestions.
- Can you arrange for me to be met at the airport?
- Yes. Please make arrangements with us well in advance of your arrival.
- What about insurance?
- The owner insures the property and his contents but you should have your own insurance policy for your own personal possessions. We can easily arrange an inexpensive policy for you.
- What about repairs? For example, what if the central heating breaks down?
- The owner is responsible for internal and external repairs. The tenant only pays if the breakdown or repair is due to negligence or misuse (i.e. blocked drains etc).
- What about emergencies?
- In the majority of cases where we are the managing agents, we are on 24-hour call.
