April in Oxfordshire
“Drip, drip, drop little April showers beating a tune as you fall all around…”
This month sees the annual Oxford Jazz Festival return with a ‘Celebrating British Jazz’ theme. From 21st-24th April you can enjoy your jazz music across more than 30 venues throughout the city, including the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford Town Hall and the Randolph Hotel (there are smaller, more intimate venues too).
If you can’t wait until the end of the month for live music, why not go and see Orquesta – Buena Vista Social Club featuring Omara Portuondo on 10th April at the New Theatre?
Fans of Strictly Come Dancing will be eager to see Midnight Tango when it comes to the New Theatre in Oxford on 12th-16th April, featuring some of the finest Tango dancers in the world.
At the end of the month, Colin Dexter will be talking about the adaptation of his novels and plots from written words to performances in ‘Morse and Me’, on 28th April at the Pegagus.
There is also an Easter theme for this month, and The Pegasus Theatre have Easter Holiday activities (11th-15th April) for kids. There will be full-day sessions all working towards a performance at the end of the week!
On 22nd-23rd April Blenheim Palace will host their Great Easter Egg Challenge. Fun for all the family and it includes face painting too.
