Under the skin of the letting market

Here we share news and views on both the local letting market in & around Oxfordshire and all planned and recent legislation.

A busy summer

The life of Oxford letting agents is usually very varied, but you can always guarantee a busy summer. While many people are away on their holidays or just having a break from work we are at our busiest and it can be a case of all hands to the pump. This summer has been no exception.

We have had plenty of quick turnarounds, with a new tenancy starting within a week of the old tenants moving out. This leaves little time for the property to be professionally cleaned, the inventory to be updated and any redecoration and remedial works to be carried out. Due to our Property Management being handled in-house, our letting team can work closely with them to ensure everything is ready in time for the new tenants.

We have also seen a number of properties come on to the market after failing to sell over the summer. A few of the properties which did sell were sold to investor landlords, who have since come to us to let them. There is no shortage of people looking to rent and the properties in good condition are often snapped up by the first person to see them; in the last month we have let 11 properties on the first viewing!

There has never been a better time to let your home, with a shortage of properties and plenty of good quality applicants who are willing to pay a premium for good quality homes.
