Support Sobell House Hospice

Our first ever charity of the year was Sobell House Hospice a fantastic institution which has made a real difference to thousands of families in Oxfordshire.

It is based next to Churchill Hospital in Headington, Oxford, and offers support, respite and care for terminally ill patients and their friends and families.

This video shows our efforts in action…

Donate a day’s rent

Many thanks to our Landlords who got in touch to donate a day’s rent for Sobell House Hospice. We had a great response to this campaign, with Landlords donating a massive £10,097.

Further to this, we concentrated our energy on two main projects:

1. Donating our time

In Autumn 71% of full time staff donated a day’s work to help in the charity’s shops, events and operations.

Helping with the Sobell House / Jack FM telethon

Fifteen Finders Keepers staff swapped their work time to help man the phones at the Jack FM telethon. All funds went to Sobell House Hospice as part of the drive to raise the £1.2 million it needs each year to stay afloat. Click here to see the video and photos.

Helping out in Sobell House shops, at the Gift Fair and gardening at the hospice

Forty-four members of staff threw on their casual clothes, gloves, raincoats and high-visibility vests to volunteer in Sobell House’s charity shops, at the Christmas Gift Fair and gardening at the Churchill Hospital. Their efforts were intended to help out the hospice in more than a financial way. Click here to see photos.

2. The Moonlight Stroll

On Saturday 11th July 2009 32 members of staff took part in Oxford’s Moonlight Stroll, click here to see photos and read our report:

Different members of the company are also did their own sponsorship activity. For example, Douglas and Chris from our Central Oxford office, and Adrian from our East Oxford office, together with Natasha one of our valuable contractors, jumped 10,000 ft from an airplane in early September.
