Banbury - Area Detail

Banbury

Rents can be 20-30% lower in Banbury than the equivalent properties in Oxford. There is a wide mixture of modern flats, converted apartments and period houses. The town has grown a lot in the past decade, helped by the M40 extension and Cherwell Council’s planning policies: Banbury is one of four Oxfordshire towns earmarked for expansion. Banbury has the full range of high street shops, and the popular Castle Quay shopping center.

Bicester

It’s rare that a shopping centre puts a town on the map, but the Bicester Retail Village discount outlet has made the town world-famous. Beyond the Village, Bicester is unique in that it has two train stations: Bicester North reaches London in 1 hr, and Bicester Town reaches Oxford in 20 minutes. Most property is modern, with many peaceful villages nearby.

Bloxham

Very close to Banbury with famous schools, period properties, good local shops, a specialist butcher and a quiet atmosphere.

Brackley

An old market town with many period properties. The upgrading of the A43 has transformed transport links, leaving J10 of the M40 only minutes away.

Chipping Warden & Culworth

Two large villages north east of Banbury, with lots of character and good local pubs. Very convenient for J11 of the M40.

Deddington

One of the most sought-after villages, situated between Banbury and Kidlington. A classic market square with good restaurants and pubs, a respected primary school and a relaxed feel.

Hook Norton

A big village between Banbury and Chipping Norton and home to the famous Hook Norton brewery. Several shops, including a dentist and a bank.

Shipton-on-Stour

North west of Banbury, a small market town with good value lower rents, primary and secondary schooling and easy access to Stratford.
