Abingdon - Area Detail

Abingdon

A wide choice of good quality houses and flats, plus some quaint central houses near the river (East and West St. Helen's Street). Abingdon business parks have some thriving companies, and the Rutherford Laboratories, Harwell/Esso Research and European School are nearby.

Clifton Hampden, Dorchester and Drayton St. Leonard

These three lovely villages lie on the banks of the river Thames south of Abingdon, and are popular with families and those commuting into Didcot and Abingdon. Jerome K. Jerome made Clifton Hampden famous in his classic book ‘Three Men in a Boat.’

Didcot

One of the fastest growing towns in Oxfordshire, known for fast 40-minute train links to London and services to Bristol and the South-West. Most properties are modern, with many good value family houses.

The Hendreds

East and West Hendred sit between Wantage and Didcot, and look onto the Downs and horse racing country. Point-to-point races are held at the nearby Lockinge course.

Wantage

12 miles south west of Oxford, this historic market town is the gateway to the famous rolling chalk hills of the Downs. Properties comprise mainly period houses and modern apartments. The White Horse at Uffington is 5-minutes’ drive.

Wallingford

15 miles south of Oxford, a small town that grew up around the Thames. It is surrounded by unspoiled countryside and is an easy drive to Henley-on-Thames and Didcot.
